I'm really not looking forward to this challenge, but no matter, the cause is more important! It's by no means a case of my not knowing what I'm getting myself into. I know exactly what I'm getting myself into, which makes it all the more horrifying!

Watching 50 films with 'Christmas' in the title during December 2009 in aid of Bullying UK.
The challenge
The challenge: to watch 50 movies with the word 'Christmas' in the title during December 2009 and in doing so raise money for anti-bullying charity Bullying UK.
The rules: movies must be watched from the very beginning right up to the closing credits. Cinema releases, straight-to-DVD movies and TV movies allowed.

But that's easy, isn't it?
I know what you're thinking:
"Why should I sponsor this guy to sit on his ass watching movies all Christmas? What's so hard about that?"
Believe me, this is no easy task! Ask yourself, how many good films have you seen with Christmas in the title? OK, so there's The Muppet Christmas Carol and The Nightmare Before Christmas, they're OK. But beyond that?
The sad fact is that 99% of 'Christmas' movies are complete tosh. Sentimental, cliched, trite, patronizing even. These films do little to warm the heart and lift the spirits of the discerning cineaste. This is not the realm of Kurosawa, Scorsese or Lean. I'm going to watch 50 of these movies. 80-or-so hours of my life!

The main reason why you should sponsor me (other than sadistic pleasure in observing my suffering) is because it's simply for a damn good cause. Bullying ruins lives. Trust me, I speak from experience. Someone who is bullied lives their life in fear. Afraid to go to school, afraid to go to work and these days even afraid to check email or read text messages. It destroys self-confidence, leads to poor social skills, poor health, anxiety disorders, crippling shyness and has many other negative effects. It's abuse.
Whether we realise it or not, we all probably know someone who is bullied or who is living with the effects of bullying in the past. Bullying UK provide support to children, parents, schools and adult victims of bullying. By sponsoring me you're supporting Bullying UK and helping all those silent victims.
